Terms of Service
Last updated 10 October 2026
In short
Talab is a tool. Your sales are between you and your customers: Talab never handles the money and takes no commission. You're responsible for what you sell and for treating your customers' data properly. Plans are paid monthly and you can stop at any time.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Talab ("we", "us") for using Talab. By creating an account, or by placing an order on a Talab storefront, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.
"Merchant" means a business that uses Talab to sell. "Customer" means someone who orders from a merchant's storefront.
2. What Talab does
Talab gives merchants a storefront link, an order list, invoices, payment-slip checks and ready-made WhatsApp messages. Talab is not the seller and is not a party to any sale. Every order is an agreement between the merchant and the customer. Customers pay merchants directly; Talab never receives, holds or transfers that money.
Talab is new and still changing. We may add, change or remove features, and some parts may be marked as beta.
3. Your account (merchants)
- You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract, or act for a business that has authorised you.
- Give accurate details and keep them up to date — especially your phone number and bank details.
- You sign in with codes sent to your email. Keep that email account secure; you're responsible for what happens in your Talab account.
- Your shop link name must not copy or impersonate another business or brand.
4. Trial, plans and payment
- New merchants get a free 14-day trial. No payment details are needed to start.
- After the trial, a paid plan is needed to keep taking orders. Plans and prices are shown on our pricing section and are billed monthly in Sri Lankan rupees.
- If a plan isn't paid, your shop stops taking new orders, but your data is kept so you can pick up where you left off.
- Fees are not refunded for part of a month, unless the law requires it. We'll give at least 30 days' notice before a price change applies to you.
- Talab never takes a commission on your sales.
5. Your responsibilities as a merchant
- What you sell. You're responsible for your products, descriptions, photos, prices, delivery, refunds and any tax, licence or food-safety rules that apply to your business.
- Your customers. Questions, complaints and disputes about an order are for you to resolve with your customer. Check payments against your own bank account before treating an order as paid — a payment slip image is not proof by itself.
- Your customers' data. You control the personal data of your customers. Use it only to handle their orders and to keep in touch in ways they'd expect, keep it private, and follow Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act. Don't add people to Talab without a reason they'd agree with.
- WhatsApp. Messages are sent from your own WhatsApp, so you must follow WhatsApp's terms and not send spam.
6. Things you must not do
- Sell anything illegal in Sri Lanka, or counterfeit goods, weapons, drugs, or stolen or adult items.
- Mislead or defraud customers, or take payment for orders you don't intend to fulfil.
- Upload content you don't have the right to use, or that is hateful, abusive or harmful.
- Place fake orders, upload fake payment slips, overload or attack the service, or try to reach another shop's data.
- Copy, scrape or resell Talab, or use it to build a competing service.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you upload — product details, photos, your logo. You allow us to store, copy and display it only as needed to run and show your shop. This ends when you delete it or close your account, apart from copies in backups, which are removed over time.
8. For customers
- When you order on a storefront, you're buying from that shop, not from Talab. The shop sets the prices, confirms your order, and is responsible for delivery and any refunds.
- Pay only the shop's bank account shown on your invoice, and only after the shop has confirmed your order.
- Contact the shop directly about your order. We can help if you can't reach them.
9. Availability
We work to keep Talab running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. Keep your own record of important orders. Talab is provided "as is", to the extent the law allows.
10. Our liability
To the extent the law allows, Talab is not liable for lost sales, lost profits or indirect losses, or for anything arising from a sale between a merchant and a customer. Our total liability to a merchant is limited to the fees they paid us in the three months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
11. Suspending or closing an account
- You can stop using Talab and ask us to close your account at any time.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts customers at risk, or isn't paid. Where we reasonably can, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to fix it.
- After an account closes, we delete its data as set out in our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Talab changes. We'll update the date at the top, and tell merchants by email or in the app at least 14 days before a significant change takes effect. Continuing to use Talab after that means you accept the new terms.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, and the courts of Sri Lanka have jurisdiction over any dispute.
